LAMPa is excited to welcome Rachel Faulkner as an at-large member of the Policy Council.
Faulkner is a native of Pennsylvania, in her last year of college and preparing for law school. She is a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Irwin, PA.
Her lived experience finds Faulkner at the intersection of faith, advocacy, and disability justice. Living with a disability has given her insight into the barriers that exist in all facets of life, and it fuels her commitment to creating more inclusive systems within the church, and the world. Faulkner founded a nonprofit, DREAM—Disability Resources for Emergency Accessibility and Management, which focuses on equipping the community with tools and resources to help everybody stay safe in emergency situations. Her passion for advocacy extends beyond emergency management into hunger justice, education access, and more.
“My faith has taught me to see justice as an essential part of community,” Faulkner said, “and that perspective guides the ways I seek to serve… Serving on LAMPa’s policy council is an opportunity to live out my discipleship in a very tangible way. It allows me to practice advocacy as a vocation, to learn from others engaged in this work, and to help ensure that voices often left unheard are lifted while we strive for equity and justice.”
“Rachel is an excellent example of the kind of leadership our young adults are exhibiting throughout the church,” said Rev. Erin Jones, LAMPa’s Communication and Advocacy Engagement Manager. “Her insight and lived experience call us all into thoughtful engagement with accessibility and faith in new and exciting ways that will deepen our commitment to creating the beloved community for all people.”
Please help LAMPa welcome Rachel into our work together!
