Hunger Leader Annette Sample joins LAMPa’s policy council as a representative from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod.  An active member of Reformation Lutheran Church in Philadelphia, Annette is a committed advocate on issues of hunger and education.  She began teaching in 1996, and through her work with the National Writing Project, remains passionate about teaching writing as a form of advocacy.  In her years of teaching, she said, “it was imperative that I nurture, empower and equip students to become leaders within and beyond the school community.  Their success continues to be one of the benefits I will always treasure.”

Since 1987, Annette has been an active Lifetime member of the African Descent Lutheran Association, serving in various leadership capacities at both the local and national level.

Her attendance at the 2013 World Hunger Leaders gathering in Des Moines, Iowa “stirred up a passion to learn more about issues of food insecurity and led me to seek out information about the various ways in which our synod and its congregations participate in hunger ministry.”

She chairs SEPA’s Hunger Ministry team and has presented hunger workshops and partnered with LAMPa to educate Lutherans about hunger at their synod assembly. We are eager to strengthen our ties in common ministry.
