SUMMARY:Lutherans Restoring Creation - August Connections Call
DESCRIPTION:Does it feel like “there are too many things to care about” right now? \nThose with power try to divide and conquer\, making us fight for time\, attention and resources for “our” social justice issue against “other” social justice issues. But it’s a made up fight. We get stronger together! \nThis call will integrate a Lutherans Restoring Creation “Connection Call” with ELCA World Hunger leaders\, some of whom are gathering soon to revitalize their efforts to “do justice\, love kindness\, and [move] humbly with our God.” (Micah 6:8) We’ll meet people who work for justice across multiple sectors and manifestations: migrant\, economic\, racial\, gender or environmental (MERGE). We’ll ask each other what we’re seeing in our communities and how we can work together for a world aligned with God’s just\, kind vision. \nREGISTER HERE!

SUMMARY:Ecology of Grace Speaker Series
DESCRIPTION:Every time we encounter the news here and around the world\, we are no longer able to avoid what seems like an onslaught of alerts about the state of our world amidst storms and floods\, fires\, and drought as levels and frequencies almost too much to bear. And yet\, as Robin Wall Kimmerer writes in The Serviceberry\, An Economy of Abundance\, “All flourishing is mutual.” \nHow do we live faithfully now? As a companion to our September worship centered upon the “Season of Creation\,” we are delving into how we relate to one another and our surroundings. In the field of biology this practice is the study of ecology. As people of faith how do we approach relating to one another and our world? Our ecology is grounded in grace. \nWe proclaim grace to be God’s gift and love for humanity. It shows up as mercy and forgiveness and love that we receive even when we don’t deserve it. It shows up as making spaces and people whole and holy. It shows up as new life and regeneration in spite of past lives and generations. It shows up as peace and not the constant clashing of wills. \nAnd it always shows up as a reminder that God will never call us disposable. We who are given this gift can then practice reflecting it in the world for the sake of the world. \nJoin five weeks of wisdom and insight on what an “Ecology of Grace” can look like and mean from a variety of perspectives:\nSeptember 10th – Rev.
