Strike Out Hunger at the Capitol All-Stars Softball Game
Join us at this year’s Capitol All-Stars Softball game and help us strike out hunger on Tuesday, September 24 at 5:30 p.m. at FNB Field on Harrisburg’s City Island. Through your attendance and support, state lawmakers from both sides of the aisle will take to the field to battle for fun and bragging rights – all to raise money for local food banks and pantries and soup kitchens across the Commonwealth. The Youse pulled off a historic “three-peat” in 2018, but the Yinzers vow to come back hard this year!
Captained by the four Pennsylvania legislative leaders – Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa, Speaker of the House Mike Turzai, and Democratic House Leader Frank Dermody – the two teams are training hard to get in shape for the game!
The game has raised more than $200,000 since 2013, but the fight for food security is far from over; one in eight Pennsylvanians continue to struggle with hunger – nearly 500,000 of them children! The game, which is sponsored by Pennsylvania Legislative Services and Wilson500, Inc., benefits two food security organizations – Hunger-Free Pennsylvania and Feeding Pennsylvania, which provide meals through their network of food banks, food pantries and other affiliated hunger relief organizations located in each of the state’s 253 legislative districts.
The game will be broadcast live by the Pennsylvania Cable Network. Admission to the game is free with a cash donation requested.
