Poverty Simulation to Recognize Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week
As part of Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW), Bethesda Project and Keystone First invite you to to walk a mile in the shoes of those experiencing poverty by participating in the Community Action Poverty Simulation. The Simulation is scheduled for Thursday, November 21 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, Philadelphia. The Poverty Simulation is an exercise designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family, trying to survive from month to month.
The goal is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by people living below the poverty line, as well as: break down stereotypes and misconceptions; cultivate community connection and responsibility; and generate action toward change.
Register by Thursday, November 14, 2019. Space is limited.
