PICC Community Member Welcoming Schools Training

Nov 25, 2019

Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition (PICC) will provide an online Welcoming Schools Campaign training for organizations and community members. The online community member session will be held on November 25th at 7 pm. The session will be aimed at providing community members with Welcoming Schools training, as well as a voluntary electronic questionnaire to highlight their family’s, or own experience within PA’s educational system as an immigrant/refugee.

If you are interested in attending the online training register here. If you have organizations or community members that you feel would be interested, please forward this information to them.
PICC hopes that by providing these sessions the Welcoming School’s Campaign can expand the voices, provide resources, and highlight perspective of immigrant/refugee communities across the state.

The Welcoming School Toolkit provides access to important information for immigrant and refugee families regarding their rights in school. The Welcoming Schools Campaign Toolkit answers questions about the fear of ICE in schools due to immigration status and how school districts can support families through Welcoming School Policies. More information on the 2019 Welcoming Schools Campaign Report can be found here.

The Welcoming Schools Questionnaire & Welcoming Schools Report, allows immigrant and refugee communities to share their unique experiences with the education system in PA, highlighting their needs and recommendations to make schools welcoming to all students. This report is used by community members and organizations to advocate for education changes across Pennsylvania.
