Statewide Immigrant and Refugee Youth Convening

August 17 - August 19

During the Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition (PICC)  fourth Statewide Immigrant Youth Convening, 30 immigrant, refugee youth and children of immigrants will gather for a weekend of community building, leadership development, new friendships, solidarity and unity to develop their skills as community leaders.

Last year the youth discussed topics such as Know Your Rights, Capacity Building, Advocacy, Welcoming Schools Campaign, Berks Detention Center and so much more. They were also able to use their creativity and write original poetry pieces that were both eye opening and empowering to the attendees. This year PICC hopes to build a welcoming and safe space for the young leaders to share stories, learn the power of youth organizing and bring back home incredible tools to resist all hate and lift up their voices when injustice triggers their wellbeing, their families and communities.

This event is open to youth that identify as immigrant, refugee or children of immigrants.
