Legislative All-Star Softball Game Takes Swing at Hunger
Help us HIT A HOME RUN AGAINST HUNGER on Monday, September 24 at 5:30 p.m. at FNB Field on Harrisburg’s City Island. After a three-year hiatus, the Yinz (West) team is gunning for a “three-peat” victory over the Youse (East) team the third Capitol All-Stars Softball game.
Captained by the four Pennsylvania legislative leaders – Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa, Speaker of the House Mike Turzai, and Democratic House Leader Frank Dermody – the two teams are training hard to get in fighting shape for the game!
The game, which is sponsored by Pennsylvania Legislative Services and Wilson500, Inc., has generated more than $130,000 to date for the state’s two food security organizations – Hunger-Free Pennsylvania and Feeding Pennsylvania, which provide meals through their network of food banks, food pantries and other affiliated hunger relief organizations located in each of the state’s 253 legislative districts.
The game will be broadcast live by the Pennsylvania Cable Network. Admission to the game is free with a cash donation requested.
