“God’s Work, Our Hands” Sunday – 2021
“‘God’s work. Our hands.’ Sunday is Sunday, September 12, 2021. This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.
Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.” – from ELCA.org
At LAMPa, we encourage Lutherans and their congregations to make a simple addition to the tagline for our denomination’s day of service – “God’s Work, Our Hands, Our Voices.” So many in our commonwealth need direct and immediate assistance to give them reprieve, but our call to do justice takes us a step further. Let us help you take your service a step toward justice by adding advocacy to your plans for the day.
Explore ways in which you and your congregation can engage in advocacy on behalf of your neighbor in the service of God. Check out our Advocacy Toolkit, as well as the ELCA social statements where our work is grounded. Do you need information on which issues you’re most passionate about addressing? Check out our Resources page. There you’ll find information on: creation care, criminal justice, education, elections, hunger, immigration, and more.
We look forward to serving with you on “God’s Work, Our Hands” Sunday!
