Canceled: Ecumenical Advocacy Days Focuses on Global Climate Action
Apr 24, 2020 - Apr 27, 2020
The #EAD2020 in-person gathering, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is canceled. Please keep in mind that cancelling the in-person event does not mean that your hearts and minds will not gather together in an ongoing ecumenical movement for global peace with justice. A team of #EAD2020 planners are currently exploring some ideas for continued collaboration and advocacy, so please stay tuned.
As they continue to plan for the future, please mark your calendar for the next Ecumenical Advocacy Days, April 16-19, 2021. Learn more.
Join Christian advocates and activists in Washington, D.C., April 24 – 27, 2020 for the annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days (EAD). Participants will worship, delve deeply into the pressing issues of the day, and lift their voices by speaking truth to power on Capitol Hill.
The 2020 theme is ““Imagine! God’s Earth and People Restored.” At this crucial time in history, we will lift up the global crisis of environmental injustice, with special attention to the intersection of climate change and economic injustice.
Around the world, the most marginalized communities disproportionately affected by hunger, poverty, and the structural history of colonialism and racism are experiencing the impacts of the climate crisis most profoundly. Women and children in these communities suffer the most.
Earth and its people are groaning and calling for us to respond in hope. We are all affected. Temperatures are rising dramatically and dangerously everywhere, disrupting ecological systems and every type of human activity. The generations of tomorrow depend on what we do today.
EAD 2020 will explore the intersection of climate change and economic injustice. This will galvanize our advocacy on behalf of policies and programs to chip away at the systems of oppression that keep people in poverty and push all life on earth to the brink of destruction.
