Basic Immigration Law Training Planned
September 9 - September 13
Registration is now open for the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) 40-Hour Basic Immigration Law Training planned for September 9-13, 2019 at the Welcoming Place in Akron, Pa. This intensive five-day training is being conducted in collaboration with World Relief. The course will help to provide the necessary training component for individuals who wish to apply for accreditation from the Department of Justice (DOJ – formerly known as BIA recognition and accreditation). It will touch on all areas of immigration law and practice, focusing on topics most relevant to those serving and representing low-income immigrants.
Due to the requirements of the recognition and accreditation application process, it is recommended that only individuals with U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, or other long-term immigration status apply for this training. Participants who pass the take-home test will receive a certificate of completion from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), the authors of the training curriculum. This will help participants in the process of obtaining DOJ recognition and accreditation.
For more information please visit the MCC webpage. The registration deadline is August 12th.
